Editor’s Note
KingAgroot’s next-generation non-selective herbicide Fluchloraminopyr-tefuryl (FCA) has been featured by AgroPages, drawing global industry attention for its robust systemic activity, extended residual performance, and lack of cross-resistance to mainstream herbicides.
The following article, originally published by AgroPages, provides detailed insights into FCA’s launch, technical differentiation, and global outlook.
CHANGSHA, China, March 20, 2026 – KingAgroot announced the official launch of its proprietary non-selective herbicide, Fluchloraminopyr-tefuryl (FCA), and its flagship formulated product, Guanhu (300 g/L FCA EC), at the national launch event in Changsha, China. The event brought together more than 300 industry experts, key channel partners, and media representatives.
Positioned as a next-generation non-selective herbicide characterized by strong systemic activity and extended residual control, FCA serves as a new tool for resistance management and marks a significant advancement in the long-residual non-selective herbicide segment.
Addressing Resistance and Performance Gaps
The global non-selective herbicide market faces mounting challenges as conventional solutions such as glyphosate and glufosinate show declining efficacy due to decades of widespread use. Increasing resistant weed populations, shortened residual control periods, and inconsistent performance under suboptimal conditions have driven up production costs and complicated weed management programs.
According to KingAgroot, FCA combines systemic activity with long-lasting residual control—enabling rapid uptake while providing sustained suppression. The product is well-suited for various applications in field of orchards, forests, oil palm, rubber and non-cropland, addressing diverse weed management demands.
Differentiated Technology and Superior Field Performance
KingAgroot reports that FCA has undergone extensive field validation and demonstrates a highly differentiated technical profile:
Broad Weed Spectrum: While retaining excellent efficacy against broadleaf weeds, FCA significantly expands activity on grasses. It delivers outstanding control against difficult-to-control weeds such as alligator weed (Alternanthera philoxeroides), horseweed (Conyza canadensis), dwarf lilyturf (Ophiopogon japonicus), Canadian goldenrod (Solidago canadensis), as well as woody vines and shrubs.
Long Residual Control: Featuring strong systemic activity and bidirectional translocation, FCA reaches the root system for complete control, effectively reducing regrowth. The residual control duration is 1–2 times longer than conventional solutions, providing 40–60 days or longer residual efficacy—making it particularly well-suited for deep-rooted orchards (such as citrus, apple, pear, and mango) and non-cropland areas requiring extended vegetation control.
Low-Temperature Stability: FCA maintains consistent efficacy at daily average temperatures as low as 12–15°C, enabling early-season applications and helping growers optimize weed control timing.
Novel Mechanism of Action: With no cross-resistance to existing commercial herbicides, FCA offers a valuable new option for resistance management.
These attributes position FCA as a high-performance solution capable of adapting to a wide range of agronomic conditions.
Portfolio Expansion and Market Prospects
The launch of FCA follows KingAgroot's introduction of the contact, fast-action non-selective herbicide Flufenoximacil (FFO) in 2024. Together, the two products extend the company's portfolio from fast-acting solutions to long-residual options, enabling a more comprehensive weed management strategy.
Industry experts at the launch noted that FCA offers significant technical differentiation and market potential, particularly in systems that require extended residual control and effective resistance management. Its future compatibility with herbicide-tolerant traits cropping systems is expected to unlock additional applications.
Global Reach and Technology Integration
KingAgroot reports that regulatory registrations for FCA are progressing well in key markets, including Indonesia, Vietnam, and Pakistan, as well as other countries across Asia, South America and Africa. The company plans a phased global rollout.
In parallel, KingAgroot has completed the development of FCA-tolerant trait in multiple crops. By integrating FCA into advanced agricultural production systems, the company aims to further enhance the product's long-term strategic value and expand its role within integrated crop protection frameworks.
Advancing Crop Protection Innovation
The launch of FCA reflects the broader shift in China's crop protection industry toward innovation-driven growth and highlights the growing global role of proprietary technologies developed by Chinese companies.
"Continuous innovation is essential to addressing the evolving challenges in agriculture," said Cheng Cheng, General Manager of KingAgroot China. "Our goal is to deliver more effective solutions that support sustainable agriculture and contribute to global food security."
